Hei Laura is a collection of essays on art & cultural topics as well as practical applications of the subject matter.
I have primarily worked in traditional media such as pencil and ink. At the moment my interest in concept art is leading me into the realm of digital drawing and painting, which I’m having tons of fun with. My art projects you can follow on IG @heylaurae, if you’re interested in checking up on my progress ๐
As an avid appreciator of concept art, my current focus is heavily affected by an attempt to tell a story through a single image. It is challenging, exciting and a chance to combine two of the things I love: drawing and writing. To tell a compelling story, that is the goal.
Aesthetic education, art history, literature and drawing are a few of the subjects I have studied. Whether it’s within a university, or reading books on my own, watching tutorials on YouTube and browsing ArtStation (busy hub for our contemporary masters of art by the way), there is a plethora of knowledge out there that I’m attempting to learn from, good old nature included.
What I’ve come to understand is that storytelling through images and written form is a practice I keep coming back to throughout the years. Right now I am applying more focus and structure to learning the ways of visual storytelling (as well as written), and it’s thrilling to see progress through consistency.
Having a full-time job in a non-related field definitely sets its challenges with time management, but then again, this is a journey for life that I am committed to. Fulfilling creative aspirations has added meaning and equilibrium throughout my entire life, and over the recent years I have started taking it a bit more seriously.

I hope all is well!
